Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 27 July 2026These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of CashLedger ("CashLedger", "we", "us"), available at
cashledger.chaitanyalakamsani.com. By creating an account or using the application you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.1. The service
CashLedger is a personal and family expense-tracking application. It lets you record income, expenses and transfers, organise them with categories and other labels, set budgets, and view analytics and reports. It is provided free of charge.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally able to enter into these Terms under the laws applicable to you. By using CashLedger, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your account
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
- Keep your password and account credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
4. Family workspaces
CashLedger supports shared family workspaces with Owner and Member roles. Records added to a family are visible to its members. You are responsible for whom you invite to your workspace and for the data you share within it.
Each workspace has exactly one Owner. The Owner can manage the family's shared data, membership, invitations, master data and budgets. Ownership is not something that can be granted to a second person: it is transferred. When an Owner transfers ownership to another member, that member becomes the Owner and the previous Owner becomes an ordinary member in the same action. Only the current Owner can transfer ownership, and only to an existing active member of that workspace — so once you have transferred it, only the new Owner can transfer it back.
An Owner cannot remove themselves from a workspace that still has other members, and cannot delete their CashLedger account while they own such a workspace. This is deliberate: it prevents a shared workspace being left with no one able to administer it. Transfer ownership first.
5. Invitations
An invitation link grants whoever holds it the ability to join your family workspace and see the financial records shared within it. The link is the access control — treat it as confidential and do not forward or post it. Anyone who opens an invitation link can see the name of the person who sent it and the name of the workspace; an invited email address is shown only in masked form.
Invitations expire 7 days after they are created and can be revoked by the Owner at any time before that. Where an invitation is addressed to a specific email address, only an account with that address may accept or decline it. Invitation records are cleaned up automatically on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the financial records and other content you enter. You grant us the limited permission necessary to store, process and display that content so we can operate the application for you and your family workspace. You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the content you enter.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the application for any unlawful purpose;
- attempt to access data belonging to other users or families, or to disrupt, overload, or circumvent the security or rate limits of the application;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the application or its infrastructure;
- upload malicious files or content that infringes others' rights.
8. Not financial advice
CashLedger is a record-keeping and reporting tool. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, or accounting advice, and its figures and reports are based solely on the data you enter. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.
9. Fees
CashLedger is currently offered free of charge. There are no payments, subscriptions, or billing within the application. If paid features are introduced in the future, they will be governed by terms presented at that time.
10. Your data and backups
You can export your data at any time (CSV, Excel, or PDF). CashLedger is not a backup service; you are responsible for keeping your own copies of any records that are important to you.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep CashLedger available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may perform maintenance that temporarily limits access.
12. Suspension, termination and account deletion
We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe harms other users or the service. You may stop using CashLedger at any time.
You may have your account deleted by contacting us. Deleting your account erases your identifying information and revokes your access. If you were the last member of a workspace, that workspace is deleted with you. If you share a workspace with others, the financial records in that workspace are retained for the remaining members and are no longer associated with your name or sign-in account — deleting them would destroy other people's financial history. If you are the Owner of a workspace that still has members, you must transfer ownership before your account can be deleted (section 4). The full description is in our Privacy Policy.
Export anything you want to keep before requesting deletion (section 10).
13. Privacy and analytics
How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: your financial records are private to your workspace, analytics runs only on our public pages and never inside your account, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Where your local law requires it, we ask for your consent before loading analytics, and you can withdraw or re-grant that consent at any time from "Cookie Preferences" in the footer. Declining does not restrict your use of CashLedger in any way.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
CashLedger is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the application.
15. Third-party services
CashLedger relies on third-party providers (including Supabase, Vercel, Google, and Cloudflare). Your use of the application is also subject to those providers' terms where applicable. See our Privacy Policy for details.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the application evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Governing law
No specific governing law or jurisdiction is designated for these Terms at this time. If a governing law or venue is designated in the future, it will be stated here. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights or protections available to you under the laws that apply to you.
